Virtual reality and artificial intelligence

This year, projects related to the creation of virtual reality (VR) have gained momentum in practical terms. Previously, all the proposals were rather concepts, focused on the ability to perform individual customized projects. This year we see real examples of the implementation of such projects as well as practical results obtained from their implementation.

The most spectacular are the projects for the creation of virtual industrial premises with the visualization and updating of information about the equipment and the status of tasks/orders that are performed on it. The resulting virtual reality is available through a simple Internet connection and allows "entering" the workshop from the other side of the world. There are also interesting projects, in which virtual premises are created for stores and warehouses before they are physically created. Such solutions allow evaluating the convenience of these premises for a person and eliminating the identified shortcomings even before the start of construction.

One of the most significant changes in the environment of VR projects is the emergence of platforms for their construction. Projects are moving from individual to mass flow, which will inevitably entail an explosion in the number of real cases in this industry.

Over the past few years, the topic of artificial intelligence has been consistently present at every promotional stand of a self-respecting company. Unfortunately, no noticeable breakthrough has been seen in practical use of AI for solving mass problems yet. As before, the overwhelming majority of cases are the recognition of visual images, texts and human speech. In many cases, now the machine copes with such problems better than a person does. All other areas of application – production planning, trade, management, etc. – now there are in the form of individual projects without the prospect of mass use.
